Local Contract SLP - $63 per hour

Local contract position in Seaford, DE for a Speech Language Pathologist. Assignment starts 08/31/2026, lasts 20 weeks, with a 40-hour work week and an 8-hour shift from 08:00 AM to 04:30 PM.

About the role

The Speech Language Pathologist will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. This may include a patient's private residence, assisted living facility, or independent living facility. The role focuses on evaluating and treating patients in their home environment to facilitate rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise CFYs, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel as required by state licensure and professional standards.
• Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, including timely clinical and billing documentation and work-related meetings.
• Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and related meetings.
• Make referrals to other disciplines or agencies to address comprehensive patient needs.
• Consult with rehabilitation team members and physicians to develop appropriate therapeutic regimens.
• Adapt programs or care plans based on individual patient needs.
• Promote a safe environment and enforce fire and safety hazard elimination.
• Order, clean, maintain, and report equipment needs and repairs.
• Prioritize patient service, ensuring a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of tests and measures to establish a diagnosis and plan of care.
• Develop treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patients and caregivers, implement treatment plans, and document all related services.
• Provide therapeutic techniques in areas such as cognitive-communication, speech intelligibility, oral motor skills, swallowing disorders, perceptual abilities, orientation, memory, pragmatics, and functional communication.
• Coordinate the acquisition of adaptive communication devices and instruct patients in their use.
• Identify hearing deficits and refer patients for assessment, diagnosis, rehabilitation, or personal amplification.
• Select appropriate therapeutic activities suited to the patient's physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interests.
• Instruct patients in skills and techniques required for therapeutic activities and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior.
• Perform routine reexaminations to modify or progress the treatment plan as needed.
• Coordinate care in the home and community with interdisciplinary team members and referring physicians.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in the state(s) of practice or proof of license eligibility.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility to participate as an ASHA Clinical Fellow.
• Valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patients' residences.
