Local contract position in Winchester, NH starting 09/21/2026 for 12 weeks (13-week assignment). 40 hours per week, 8-hour shift (08:00 AM - 04:30 PM). Minimum guarantee of 40 hours.

About the role

The Speech Language Pathologist will primarily provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. This may include a patient's private residence, assisted living facility, or independent living facility. The role allows evaluation and treatment in the patient's home, the most functional environment. The Speech Language Pathologist organizes and provides speech-language services to facilitate rehabilitation, directing patient participation in tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. They facilitate learning of skills and functions essential for communication and swallowing, promoting and maintaining health within the scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Supervise CFYs, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
• Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation, and work-related meetings.
• Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other related meetings.
• Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address comprehensive patient needs.
• Consult with rehabilitation team members and physicians to select appropriate therapeutic regimens based on patient needs and capabilities.
• Adapt programs and care plans according to individual patient needs.
• Promote a safe environment and enforce fire and safety hazard elimination.
• Order, clean, maintain, and report equipment and supply needs.
• Prioritize patient service, ensuring residents and families receive high-quality care in a compassionate atmosphere.
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of tests and measures.
• Develop and implement treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patients and caregivers, including documentation and record-keeping.
• Provide therapeutic techniques in areas such as:

  • Swallowing disorders/dysphagia
  • Perceptual abilities
  • Orientation and memory
  • Pragmatics and psychosocial expression

• Coordinate acquisition and instruction of adaptive communication devices.
• Identify hearing deficits and refer for assessment, diagnosis, rehabilitation, or personal amplification.
• Select and instruct patients in therapeutic activities suited to their capacity, intelligence, and interest.
• Evaluate patient progress, attitudes, and behavior related to rehabilitative potential.
• Perform routine reexaminations to modify or progress the treatment plan.
• Coordinate care in home and community settings with interdisciplinary team members and referring physicians.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in the state(s) of practice or proof of license eligibility.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility to participate as an ASHA Clinical Fellow.
• Valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patients' residences.
