Local Contract Physical Therapist - $60-64 per hour

Local contract opportunity in Fall River, Massachusetts for a Physical Therapist to provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. The role allows evaluation and treatment in the patient's home or independent living facility.

About the role

The Physical Therapist assesses needs, develops and delivers individualized therapy programs, and makes referrals to other disciplines to address comprehensive patient needs. They implement programs designed to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance, while educating patients and caregivers to promote independence and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
• Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation, and work-related meetings.
• Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other related meetings.
• Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address the comprehensive needs of the patient.
• Consult with rehabilitation team members to select appropriate therapeutic regimens consistent with patient needs and capabilities.
• Adapt programs and plans of care according to individual patient needs.
• Promote a safe environment and enforce elimination of fire and safety hazards.
• Order, clean, maintain, and report the need for repair of supplies and equipment.
• Prioritize patient service, ensuring a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures.
• Establish diagnoses, identify impairments, determine predicted levels of improvement, and design plans of care in collaboration with patients and caregivers.
• Implement physical therapy treatment plans and complete all related documentation and record keeping.
• Provide therapeutic techniques including:
  • Therapeutic exercise (aerobic capacity conditioning, balance coordination, agility training, body mechanics, postural stabilization, flexibility, gait and locomotion training, neuromotor development, relaxation, strength, power, and endurance training).
  • Functional training.
  • Manual therapy.
  • Airway clearance techniques.
  • Integumentary repair and protection.
  • Use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent, and mechanical modalities.
  • Health and wellness education.
  • Chronic disease management education.
  • Falls assessment and interventions to reduce fall risk.
• Perform case management in the home and community.
• Design, fabricate, fit, and/or apply adaptive devices, including orthotics and prosthetics, and train patients in their use.
• Select appropriate activities suited to the individual's physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interest.
• Instruct patients in skills and techniques required for participation in mobility activities and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior.
• Perform routine reexaminations to modify or progress the treatment plan.
• Incorporate health and wellness programming into treatment plans.
• Perform home and community mobility assessments and provide recommendations for safe mobility.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Valid Physical Therapy license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license eligibility.
• Master's degree in Physical Therapy; or Master's degree in a Physical Therapy related field plus a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy; or Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy plus 5 years of progressively responsible PT experience.
• Qualifying Physical Therapy degree earned outside the U.S. must be evaluated as equivalent to a U.S. degree in Physical Therapy.
• Valid driver's license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patients' residences.

Schedule

• 13-week assignment starting 08/24/2026.
• 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
• Minimum guarantee of 40 hours per week.
