About the Role
The Loan Specialist is responsible for compiling loan documents, reviewing loan applications for adherence to Neighborhood Credit Union’s loan policies and procedures, and ensuring all liens are fully secured on every collateralized consumer loan funded. They will also perform a variety of lending services, communicate professionally with dealers, members, sellers, and NCU staff, and maintain a robust understanding of all collateralized and personal loan types, including title work for in and out of the state of Texas.
Responsibilities
- Assembles and verifies the accuracy of loan documentation, ensuring proper signatures and relevant information.
- Understands and manages the title process for autos, boats, and recreational vehicles, including follow-up with financial institutions for title releases.
- Processes and releases liens for collateralized consumer loans in accordance with state guidelines, rules, and regulations.
- Works with insurance companies on total loss claims and handles back-end product cancellations and claims.
- Performs all existing loan maintenance and clerical duties, including electronic title system updates, error reports, matching titles, and closing accounts.
- Processes dealership and insurance payments via official check and wire in a timely manner.
- Refers credit union products and services to meet company, personal, and departmental goals.
- Maintains professional business relations with customers, financial institutions, and merchants.
- Communicates effectively with Texas Department of Motor Vehicle Tax Office staff, dealerships, and insurance companies regarding title work and collateral claims.
- Responds promptly and professionally to member inquiries via phone, email, or text.
- Collaborates with members, insurance companies, financial institutions, and third parties to ensure a fast and efficient consumer loan funding process.
- Assists other departments with lending-related questions and support.
- Provides feedback on daily duties to promote process improvements and maintains a positive attitude when assigned new processes, services, or products.
Requirements
- Complies with the US Patriot Act, Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC policies, and procedures.
- Follows all credit union policies, procedures, and governmental regulations.
Qualifications
- Robust understanding of all collateralized and personal loan types, including title work for in and out of the state of Texas.
- Ability to communicate professionally with dealers, members, sellers, and NCU staff.
