About the role
As part of the nationwide Farm Credit System, we partner with farmers, ranchers, agribusinesses, and rural residents to help them achieve their goals. We're looking for an energetic, relationship-driven professional to join our Columbia, Missouri team as an Agricultural Relationship Manager.
- Develop trusted relationships with farmers, agribusinesses, and rural customers.
- Build and manage a successful agricultural and consumer lending portfolio.
- Identify opportunities to help customers achieve their financial goals.
- Provide exceptional service and ongoing support to member-owners.
- Represent FCS Financial in the community and help grow our presence in the local market.
Responsibilities
- Loan Origination/Portfolio Management (60%)
- Meets with current customers and prospects to gather, update, and review financial and scope of operation information to determine eligibility.
- Completes the Farm Credit Services (FCS) application process in order to submit to the credit department.
- Analyzes credit for new actions and servicing actions.
- Verifies financial documentation and closing conditions.
- Determines product pricing.
- Communicates credit decision and completes required steps for closing.
- Determines location for loan closing and coordinates schedules to ensure loan closing time and location meets customer needs.
- Services loans, including partial releases, collateral substitutions, changes in payment and maturity dates, extensions and conversions.
- Identifies at-risk loans and determines a plan of action to resolve deficiencies.
- Marketing and Sales (25%)
- Represents and promotes FCS Financial at agricultural organization meetings and events.
- Attends auctions and sale barns to promote FCS services and products.
- Determines appropriate sales approach for potential or current customers.
- Determines potential business opportunities through relationship building activities including targeted sales calls and onsite visits.
- Reviews financial information for cross-sale opportunities.
- Determines proper allocation of marketing budget dollars.
- Contacts internal resources (credit, appraisal, crop insurance, customer service) to coordinate activities and ensure customer needs are met.
- Contacts external resources (FSA, title companies, surveyors, legal counsel, appraisers, CPAs) to coordinate activities and ensure customer needs are met.
- Chattel and Collateral Valuations (10%)
- Performs Chattel (cattle, crops, machinery) and Collateral valuations (real estate).
- Determines value using external resources such as websites, local grain market, livestock facilities, and the internal appraisal manual for real estate.
- Training (5%)
- Attends loan officer development training courses as applicable and/or assigned.
- Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, Finance or a related field.
- Knowledge of sales, marketing strategies, financial services, agriculture operations, negotiating skills, and basic accounting principles.
- A self-motivated, results-oriented mindset.
- Passion for providing exceptional customer service.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
Skills
- General knowledge of the sales process, negotiating tactics, marketing strategies, financial services industry, agricultural industry, and basic accounting principles.
- Skill in negotiating agreements to achieve the best outcome for the organization.
- Skill in using Microsoft technologies including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Skill in listening and conveying awareness of a customer's problem or issue to find resolution.
- Oral and written communication skills sufficient to discuss a variety of job-related topics, and to effectively communicate complex topics to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to learn and retain Association policies and procedures, and the ability to adapt to new policies and procedures quickly.
- Responsible to appropriately protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of the Association’s systems and data and clients’ data.

- Financial Services Officer: $58,000 - $85,000
- Assistant Vice President, Ag & Rural Lending: $64,000 – $107,000
- Vice President, Ag & Rural Lending: $79,000 - $151,000
