About the role
As a Porter at RWB Thrift, you are the air-traffic controller of the backroom, anticipating the needs of the production support staff ahead of time, ensuring supplies are available and in the correct place. You play a vital role in maintaining a safe work environment by prioritizing cleanliness, organization, and flow of the production floor.
Responsibilities
Your attention to detail and fast-paced work execution contribute to a positive working experience for our production employees and help streamline overall production. The role involves various tasks, including:
- Trailer Loader / Unloader: loading and unloading items from delivery trucks or trailers, sorting and organizing items, documenting arrivals, and safely moving merchandise to designated areas within the store.
- Trash Compactor Operator: managing waste efficiently, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, operating and maintaining the trash compactor equipment, and compacting waste materials to optimize space.
- Organizer: overseeing supply management within the backroom, receiving, organizing, and replenishing supplies, ensuring timely availability of supplies on the production floor.
Key responsibilities include transporting items between departments, maintaining inventory of supplies, following safety protocols, and providing excellent customer service by anticipating the needs of the production staff.
Requirements
The ideal candidate has the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, with attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and organization. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also required, along with knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
Physical Requirements
The role requires the ability to safely perform job functions, including lifting and carrying up to 70 lbs, exerting up to 25 lbs of force, and applying negligible force when handling objects. The candidate must also be able to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive motions, and maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling.
Work Environment
The work environment is dynamic and characterized by a consistently busy atmosphere, with a high level of noise and bright lighting. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced and busy environment is essential for this role, along with regular interactions with customers, donors, and coworkers.
Pay
The pay range for this role is $15.50 to $18.25 per hour.
