We are a growing company expanding our livestock team, with positions available at our Rio & Poynette, WI locations. Starting pay is $21/hr.
Schedule
- 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday
- Every 5th weekend
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent care and maintenance for our bull and mount population, including:
- Feeding and semen collection production
- Health testing and assisting with bull movements
- Ensuring bulls are comfortable and dry
- Hoof trimming and grooming
- Assisting with treatment of bulls as directed by veterinary staff
- Maintain, clean, and secure facilities
- Consistently maintain bull health and hygiene standards, including:
- Assist with daily feeding, bedding, and hygiene
- Assist with grooming, washing, and hoof trimming of bulls
- Assist with picture taking and manure removal
- Take the lead in transporting bulls
- Monitor bull health for injury and illness; report to veterinary department and supervisor/manager
- Assist with semen collection in accordance with quality standards and company safety policies, including:
- Adhere to all quality control measures relevant to health, safety, and hygiene of employees and bulls
- Provide maintenance and upkeep of ABS facilities to ensure employee and bull safety, including:
- Maintain barn in proper working condition and appearance for tours and bull health
- Assist with maintaining equipment in workable and safe conditions
- Observe and promote all safety rules
- Assist with lawn mowing and snow removal as needed
- Maintain professional verbal and written communications with co-workers, internal and external customers, and vendors
- Promote effective teamwork within the livestock department, including:
- Be flexible with job responsibilities and strive to be an effective team member
- Display willingness to perform non-routine tasks to ensure high productivity
- Develop new skills and assume greater responsibility
- Learn to handle and collect problem bulls with proper techniques
- Learn hoof care program and techniques
- Actively participate in ABS training opportunities (e.g., Rep. School)
- Learn all computer programs for production, safety, training, and communication
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of hands-on cattle handling experience
- Knowledge of and skills in farming operations
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Reliable and dependable with solid performance standards
- Ability to work effectively and positively within a team environment
- Valid driver’s license
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Skid Steer Operation experience
- Tractor and Manure Spreader Operation experience
- Zero Turn lawn mower Operation experience
- Mechanical knowledge and maintenance skills
