Livestock Handler

Job Summary

This position involves working with livestock including driving, sorting, weighing, tattooing, marking, and penning livestock while maintaining accurate inventories and head counts. Responsibilities also include operating the hot-scale and Bio Q, performing light building maintenance, and showcasing duties. The role requires safe and humane handling of livestock according to policy and performing any other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Prior experience working with and handling livestock in loading and unloading operations, as well as experience with skid loaders and forklift operation. Basic experience with livestock handling in a procurement area of the meat industry is preferred. Prior knowledge and experience with humane animal handling procedures, processes, and general policy in procurement is preferred.
• Computer Skills: Basic computer knowledge is preferred.
• Communication Skills: Good communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to communicate with all levels of team members and government officials.
• Special Skills: Must be able to work in a very fast-paced environment.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 70 pounds or more unassisted and stand for extended periods of time 8 to 10 hours excluding beak time.
