About the role

The well-established and forward-thinking livestock farm in Aberdeenshire is seeking an experienced Livestock Farm Manager to take full responsibility for the management of its beef and sheep enterprises. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will oversee the day-to-day running of the farm while also contributing to longer-term planning and performance improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the farm
  • Contribute to longer-term planning and performance improvement
  • Manage and support a small on-site team
  • Organise daily workloads, set clear expectations, train staff where required and ensure a positive and productive working environment
  • Lead from the front during peak periods such as lambing and calving
  • Oversee general farm management duties including pasture and grazing management, fencing, machinery operation and maintenance, and ensuring the farm remains well-presented and functional at all times
  • Handle record keeping, compliance requirements and contribute to budgeting and cost control

Requirements

  • Proven experience in livestock management
  • Confident working independently and making key operational decisions
  • Strong attention to detail and proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
  • Practical, organised and forward-thinking
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Genuine passion for livestock farming
  • Experience in both beef and sheep systems
  • Good understanding of modern farming practices and compliance standards

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree or equivalent experience in agriculture, animal science, or a related field. Previous experience in livestock management, particularly in beef and sheep systems, is highly desirable. Knowledge of modern farming practices and compliance standards is also important.
