Responsibilities
- Take ownership of case calendars and ensure all court deadlines are tracked and met.
- Electronically file documents in both federal and state courts under attorney supervision.
- Conduct online research.
- Draft pleadings, notices, and motions.
- Request and summarize medical records.
- Prepare medical chronologies for attorney review.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of litigation experience in a law firm, including case preparation from beginning to end.
- An understanding of a paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle (especially written discovery and expert discovery).
- A knowledge of Virginia state and federal court procedures.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Well-developed critical thinking skills.
- Detail oriented, producing neat and accurate work product.
- The ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities.
- Proactive issue resolution.
- Able to be a true team player.
Education: 2 or 4-year degree and a paralegal certificate, or equivalent work experience may be substituted.
Skills: Ability to conduct research as needed using various research tools.
Flexibility: To work overtime as needed to meet business needs.
