About the Role

Taft is seeking a Legal Assistant with 2+ years' experience to support our Litigation practice group in the Cincinnati office. All Taft employees operate under a “Client First” philosophy—in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Composes or prepares documents and in/out correspondence according to Firm standards.
  • Assists with trial preparation including but not limited to formation of exhibit binders and coordinating depositions.
  • At the direction of the assigning attorney, corresponds with clients and vendors.
  • Assists in managing client contacts, emails, and print documents as well as processing mail.
  • Processes invoices for client disbursements and firm expenses for payment.
  • Timely enters, reviews, and corrects time entries for assigned timekeepers.
  • Files documents with courts as needed; maintains pleading file index.
  • Assists with work-related travel arrangements.
  • Creates, maintains, and retires files in accordance with Taft's Information Governance Policy.
  • Responds to requests with a sense of urgency; prioritizes work, monitors deadlines, and communicates the same to the assigned team.

Requirements

  • Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, credibility, and personal effectiveness.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities in a high-volume setting.
  • Thoroughness and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate well with colleagues and work effectively as a team; effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be flexible and dependable.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least two years of related experience in a law firm preferred (litigation experience preferred).
  • Experience supporting multiple attorneys/supervisors preferred.
  • Proficiency in iManage preferred.
  • Experience working in Microsoft Office required.
