Litigation (IP) Associate Attorney
About the role
Day Pitney is seeking an associate with 2–3 years of commercial litigation and intellectual property litigation experience to join our growing team in our Hartford, CT office. We will also consider candidates for our New Haven, CT office.
Responsibilities
- Handle commercial litigation matters and intellectual property disputes, including trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters.
- Experience with claims under the Lanham Act and the Copyright Act, as well as claims for common law trademark infringement, breach of contract, unfair trade practices, and breach of licensing agreements.
- Experience with trademark disputes before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), as well as online trademark and copyright enforcement, including preparing takedown notices, cease and desist letters, and UDRP complaints.
- Demonstrated experience in all aspects of litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs; taking and defending depositions; attending court conferences and hearings; conducting legal research; preparing and responding to discovery; handling day-to-day case management; and participating in trial preparation.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of demonstrated commercial litigation and/or intellectual property litigation experience
- Experience with trademark, copyright, and/or trade secret disputes is preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, business-minded approach
- Excellent project management, organizational, and client service skills
- Self-motivated, driven, resourceful, and able to thrive in a collaborative team environment
- Connecticut Bar admission in good standing is required
