Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patent, trademark, and intellectual property clearance searches and provide risk assessments, legal opinions, and strategic recommendations regarding protectability, registrability, and infringement exposure.
- Prepare, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent and trademark applications before the appropriate intellectual property offices and regulatory authorities.
- Manage domestic and international trademark portfolios, including monitoring, maintenance, renewals, enforcement efforts, and coordination with foreign counsel.
- Represent clients in trademark opposition, cancellation, and other contested proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB).
- Advises clients on copyright registration, ownership, licensing, enforcement, and infringement matters.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret intellectual property-related agreements, including licensing agreements, assignments, confidentiality agreements, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), coexistence agreements, technology transfer agreements, and other commercial contracts involving intellectual property rights.
- Provide strategic guidance regarding the development, protection, commercialization, and enforcement of intellectual property assets.
- Conduct intellectual property due diligence in connection with mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions, joint ventures, licensing arrangements, and other corporate transactions.
- Identify and evaluate intellectual property risks and opportunities associated with business operations, transactions, and product development initiatives.
- Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas to address intellectual property issues arising in litigation, corporate transactions, employment matters, technology agreements, and regulatory compliance matters.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law and active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 8+ years of substantive intellectual property experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or comparable legal environment.
- Demonstrated experience handling patent and trademark prosecution, intellectual property portfolio management, TTAB proceedings, and copyright-related matters.
- USPTO registration preferred, particularly for candidates engaged in patent prosecution and patent portfolio management.
- Strong understanding of U.S. and international intellectual property laws, regulations, procedures, and enforcement mechanisms.
- Exceptional legal research, analytical, drafting, and writing skills, with the ability to provide practical and strategic legal advice.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience drafting and reviewing sophisticated intellectual property and technology-related agreements.
- Ability to assess legal and business risks associated with intellectual property assets and develop effective protection and enforcement strategies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex intellectual property concepts to clients and business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy and responsiveness.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential, proprietary, and sensitive business information with discretion and professionalism.
Pay
$185,000 - $250,000 (depending on experience)

Hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote, but can be 3 days in office, 2 days remote after onboarding period)
