Job Summary
Inter-Con is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented attorney to join the Legal Department as Junior Counsel – Litigation. This role will support the management of litigation and litigation-adjacent matters affecting the organization, working closely with senior attorneys, internal stakeholders, and outside counsel.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the management of various aspects of Inter-Con’s litigation matters, including employment matters, traditional labor matters, regulatory inquiries, administrative claims, and internal investigations;
- Support the development and implementation of litigation strategies aligned with the company’s business and risk management objectives;
- Cook up with outside counsel regarding case updates, discovery, deadlines, and litigation strategy;
- Provide legal research and practical guidance to internal stakeholders on litigation risks, dispute resolution strategies, and compliance matters;
- Support law & motion and discovery processes, including drafting motions, briefs, correspondence, and other pleadings, as well as assisting with document collection, ESI, discovery responses, witness interviews, and deposition preparation;
- Assist with preparation for appearances, hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and trials as necessary;
- Participate in evaluation of claims and support settlement negotiations and resolution efforts when appropriate;
- Maintain a watchful eye on legal developments, legislation, and case law trends impacting the organization and assist with policy and process improvements to reduce litigation risk;
- Assist with contract-related projects as needed, including contract review, legal research, and responses to requests for proposals;
- Contribute to legal department projects, compliance initiatives, and administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
- Active license in good standing to practice law in California
- Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant litigation experience
- Experience with employment and traditional labor matters
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with a practical, business-oriented mindset
- Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, sound judgment, and integrity
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal business partners and outside counsel
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Teams, and Lexis Nexis; experience with SharePoint, Salesforce, Legal Files, Paycom and/or ADP is preferred.
