Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Litigation Attorney to join our firm as an Associate focused on complex civil litigation matters. The successful candidate will manage a full docket, develop litigation strategy, advocate for clients in discovery and trial, and collaborate with partners to achieve favorable outcomes in high-stakes cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle all phases of complex civil litigation from case intake through trial and appeal.
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court documents with precision and persuasive legal analysis.
- Conduct thorough factual and legal research and prepare memoranda to support litigation strategy.
- Manage discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
- Prepare for and take depositions of fact and expert witnesses; defend depositions when required.
- Develop and argue dispositive motions, evidentiary motions, and other pre-trial motions.
- Participate in settlement negotiations, mediations, and client strategy meetings to pursue favorable resolutions.
- Prepare trial exhibits, witness examinations, and jury instructions; assist in trial presentation and courtroom advocacy.
- Supervise and mentor junior associates, paralegals, and support staff; delegate tasks and review work product.
- Maintain accurate time and billing records, manage client communications, and ensure compliance with firm policies.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing.
- 3+ years of experience as an Associate Attorney practicing litigation, with significant exposure to complex matters.
- Proven experience in managing complex litigation cases, including motion practice, discovery disputes, and trial preparation.
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills, demonstrated through drafting persuasive briefs and courtroom experience.
- Experience taking and defending depositions and working with expert witnesses.
- Excellent legal research and analytical abilities, with attention to detail and sound judgment.
- Able to manage a demanding caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
- Familiarity with electronic discovery tools, case management software, and litigation support technology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a client-service orientation; ability to work collaboratively with partners and colleagues.
