About the Role

The City of Litchfield Park is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician I to perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on a variety of municipal facilities, equipment, and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Maintain and repair buildings, grounds, and related facilities, including painting, carpentry, and general repairs.
  • Inspect facilities to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles used in maintenance activities.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests and perform after-hours duties as required.
  • Assist in the setup and takedown of equipment and furnishings for city events.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities, work orders, and inventory of supplies.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in general maintenance, construction, or a related field.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain relevant certifications (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical) within a specified timeframe.
  • Basic knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, bending, and working in confined spaces.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills and professional demeanor when interacting with city staff and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or vocational training in a related field.
  • Experience working in a municipal or government facility maintenance environment.
  • Certifications in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or other relevant trades.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
