About the role
The Linux Systems Administrator will provide technical problem solving and in-depth consulting for Linux system operations in a Research, Development, and Testing and Evaluation (RDT&E) environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical problem solving and in-depth consulting for Linux system operations.
- Knowledge of working with multiple intercommunicating devices across several systems.
- Work as part of a team responsible for administration, development and management of servers, and clustered systems operating in unclassified network environments.
- Develop, analyze, design, and implement modifications to the system software in order to improve system performance, correct errors, or fulfill specific needs.
- Participate in weekly cross section meetings to plan, advise, and develop operational environment requirements, deployments and adjustments.
- Participate in scheduled testing events with a willingness to take charge with troubleshooting across several systems to provide on time delivery of test priorities.
- Participate in planning new hardware acquisitions, developing operating policy, interacting with vendors, educating customers, and communicating and collaborating with other projects within the organization.
- Linux Admin will provide support for application installation, licenses management, software tracking/distribution and backup/recovery of system configurations and user data files.
- Aid users in applying for accounts and approving user access.
- Team with software developers to implement new proprietary installations and updates while providing Linux troubleshooting assistance as required.
- Experience with a multitude of Linux applications and software: PTP, iRIG, Kickstart, Bash, UDEV, NMCLI, GDM, etc.
- Participate in daily Scrums to coordinate Jira tasks, epics, and sprints.
- Willingness to travel to perform installations and testing.
- Experienced written and verbal communications to correct and draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for development updates and new operational environment releases.
Requirements
- A minimum of four to five (4-5) years’ demonstrated experience in system administration of Linux-based servers and Linux-based workstations.
- High School Diploma required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Must have well-developed Linux system management skills.
- Must have experience with hardware experience with HP and Dell systems.
- Prior development operations/system engineering experience is appreciated; development lifecycle understanding is favored.
- Network administration experienced appreciated but not required.
- Must have demonstrated experience working in an environment with rapidly changing job priorities.
Qualifications
- Percentage of travel varies between 10%-25%

Pay
Targeted salary range is $100,000 to $115,000 annually based on qualifications and experience.

- Must meet CWF DoD 8570/8140 criteria or Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification at time of hire.
Security Clearance
Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. Must be eligible to receive a Top Secret clearance upon hire. US Citizenship is a requirement for this contract.
