Lineworker 1st Class

The role of a fully executed Lineworker is specific to Electric Operations and requires specific experience working power lines. Unitil is an investor-owned public utility serving Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, dedicated to providing safe and reliable energy to its customers.

About the role

This position requires moderately heavy laboring work in all kinds of weather, primarily outdoors. It involves performing assigned tasks as a fully qualified Lineworker 1st Class, covering all phases of transmission and overhead distribution linework including substation construction and maintenance. Work includes performing maintenance on streetlighting systems, assisting in underground construction and maintenance, and handling energized wires up to and including approximately 15kV between conductors.

Responsibilities

• Provides oversight and coordination of projects related to electrical facilities.
• Completes required field paperwork for work completed, including maintenance, motor vehicle records, and other records as needed.
• Investigates electric service trouble calls and makes necessary corrective repairs to restore electric service.
• Assists in underground construction and maintenance, and work involving the construction of high voltage lines de-energized.
• Teaches methods and procedures involved in all phases of linework and substation work to lineworkers in training positions.
• Communicates concerns and suggestions to supervisors and fellow workers, supporting company strategic plans and goals.
• Addresses conflicts, resolves problems, and recommends solutions.
• Ensures consistency in word and action, demonstrating self-awareness, self-regulation, and social skills.
• Responds to overtime work both planned and emergency, and provides standby coverage in accordance with the agreement with Local Union #B340.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must be fully qualified as a Line Worker 2nd Class.
• Requires a CDL and Driver Qualification File.
• Must hold a Massachusetts 1B/2A Hoisting Engineers License.
• Reside within a specified geographic area in accordance with the agreement with Local Union #B340, BUW Agreement, Local #B340.
• Available to respond to overtime work both planned and emergency.
• Provides standby coverage in accordance with the agreement with Local Union #B340, BUW Agreement, Local #B340.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a drug test under the FMCSA drug pool.

Pay

Ultimate rate - $54.78 per hour, for a 40-hour week. Overtime rates in accordance with the UWUA Agreement, Local #B340.

Schedule

Hours shall be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
