Full-time position (1.0 FTE) in the Laundry department.

Overview

The Linen Technician I NE supports linen services by counting, restocking, and distributing linens to meet hospital needs. The role ensures timely delivery, maintains accurate inventory records, and responds to customer requests with excellent service. The role adheres to HIPAA, OSHA, and DNV regulations, promotes workplace safety, and supports emergency response, contributing to operational efficiency and patient care at UPH.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully completes hospital-wide orientation, annual hospital competencies, and department/unit-specific competencies.
  • Understands hospital and department compliance for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g., Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste, and abuse. Reports any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of department or hospital administrative staff.
  • For the safety of patients and co-workers, maintains required seasonal and job-related vaccinations, reviewed regularly during periodic health assessments.
  • Conducts all aspects of the job ethically in support of the hospital’s commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity.
  • Loads linen exchange carts and closets with clean linen from the laundry processor’s carts.
  • Delivers and returns linen exchange carts to designated areas within the hospital, using a designated safety tugger.
  • Delivers linen to assigned areas using a wheeled cart, filling shelves to designated par levels.
  • Separates unacceptable linens (stained, worn, torn, etc.) and returns them to the laundry processor.
  • Delivers additional requested items within a desirable time frame.
  • Collects soiled linen from various areas within the hospital using a wheeled cart and records the collection time on the Log.
  • Spot cleans pillows and other items as needed.
  • Washes and dries specified mops and linen items in washer/dryer.
  • Reports work problems, unsafe conditions, and maintenance needs to the Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Must be 18 years old.
  • Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English.
  • Demonstrates teamwork, customer/patient focus, and strong written & verbal communication.
  • Position does not involve direct patient contact.

Schedule

6:00 am to 2:30 pm. Every other weekend. Rotating holiday schedule.
