Through its renowned brands—Versalift, Ruthmann, Bluelift, France Élévateur, Movex, BrandFX, and Aspen Aerials—the company serves diverse industries, including electric utility, telecommunications, bridge inspection, tree care, and other fleet‑supported sectors. The company is committed to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction, designing and manufacturing top‑tier products that enable professionals to operate safely and efficiently at various heights.

About the role

The LINE‑X Coating Specialist is responsible for the technical preparation and application of protective polyurea/polyurethane coatings to utility truck service bodies, structural chassis components, and Versalift aerial lift assemblies. This role bridges precision manufacturing with heavy industrial protective coatings, ensuring high‑wear areas, operator platforms, and utility compartments are fortified against mechanical abrasion, chemical corrosion, and environmental degradation.

Responsibilities

  • Substrate Preparation & Conditioning (≈35%): Operate industrial media blasters, pneumatic grinders, and dual‑action sanders to profile raw steel, aluminum, and fiberglass; apply solvent degreasers and chemical neutralizers; apply specialized primers with strict flash‑off times.
  • High‑Precision Component Masking (≈25%): Identify and mask sensitive zones on Versalift equipment, including hydraulic rods, control valves, wire harnesses, pivot pins, bearings, and safety decals; execute masking protocols for dielectric fiberglass boom sections; use wire‑tapes to create clean termination lines.
  • Chemical Application & Spray Operations (≈25%): Configure and operate high‑pressure, heated plural‑component proportioning pumps; monitor chemical temperatures (140‑150 °F) and pressures (2,000‑2,500 PSI); apply A‑side and B‑side formulas to achieve specified mil thicknesses (60‑125+ mil); spray non‑skid textures to meet OSHA/ANSI requirements.
  • Equipment Maintenance & Shop Safety (≈15%): Flush, clean, and rebuild spray guns; perform daily checks on pump seals, desiccant dryers, and heated hoses; maintain batch logs, temperature/humidity sheets, and VOC tracking; uphold spray‑booth safety, chemical storage, hazardous‑waste disposal, and respirator use.

Qualifications

  • Deep operational knowledge of heated, high‑pressure plural‑component proportioning machinery and ratio‑monitoring (1:1 volumetric mix).
  • Thorough understanding of substrate behavior for steel, aluminum, and reinforced fiberglass composites.
  • Proficiency with wet‑film and dry‑film thickness gauges for on‑the‑fly verification.
  • Ability to work in an industrial spray booth with exposure to chemical vapors, high noise, and dust while wearing full‑body Tyvek suits, heavy gloves, and air‑supplied respirators.
  • Physical capability for regular kneeling, bending, overhead reaching, ladder work, and lifting up to 50 lb unassisted.
  • Technical skills: surface preparation (cleaning, sanding, masking, priming), operation of plural‑component spray equipment, mixing and applying polyurea/polyurethane coatings, controlling thickness and finish quality, and understanding curing influences of temperature and humidity.

Experience Requirements

  • 3+ years of industrial coating, automotive refinishing, bedliner, or polyurea spray experience.
  • Ability to read product data sheets and application specifications.
  • Experience with coating inspection and quality control.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and bonus structure.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborative and innovative work environment.
