Line Controls Specialist

About the role

As a Line Controls Specialist, you will be part of a high-performing team committed to World Class Manufacturing performance, prioritizing safety while building a line culture of continuous improvement with a focus on zero operational defects and losses. You will work closely with the line mechanical specialist to support production by developing autonomous and preventive maintenance capabilities, with a specific focus on electrical, power, controls, and information systems. The role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, installing, and recommending control changes to improve business results in safety, quality, production, delivery, cost, and morale.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in line Daily Direction Setting (DDS) meetings and execution of the daily plan, including reporting results of the previous 24 hours: number of breakdowns, resolved/unresolved defects, project management, etc.
• Serve as a coach and resource for the line team and actively participate in the execution of maintenance plans.
• Develop manufacturing technicians’ capability to inspect equipment for defects and correct those defects.
• Support development and lead portions of 90-day loss elimination plans and the annual maintenance plan.
• Partner with the line maintenance specialist in leading the breakdown elimination (BDE) daily management system (DMS) and drive breakthrough results in line stops and planned/unplanned downtime, with a focus on electrical, power, controls, and information systems.
• Lead the Maintenance, Planning, and Scheduling System to resolve defects identified through equipment inspections, scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) work orders, and annual maintenance tasks/rebuilds.
• Ensure revision and updating of maintenance system technical documentation as necessary; develop work instructions to standardize best-practice methods.
• Support the line team in troubleshooting controls-related breakdowns and process failures; program controls equipment to meet safety, quality, and production requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (or GED) required.
• Bachelor’s Degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience preferred; degree/certification in electrical engineering, automation, or control systems is a plus.
• 4+ years of experience working with automation and control systems in industrial manufacturing (with High School Diploma or GED) OR 2+ years of experience (with Bachelor’s Degree/technical certification).
• Proficient with PLC/HMI/SCADA programming, electrical design, variable frequency drives, and industrial electrical hardware.
• Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and networks (DeviceNet, ControlNet, DH+, remote I/O, and Ethernet).
• Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation, sensors (PNP, NPN), and transmitters (temperature, flow, conductivity, pH, pressure, etc.).
• Knowledge of variable frequency drives and servo motors.
• Ability to work with and lead a team of manufacturing technicians.
• Ability to work nights and weekends as needed to support a 24/7 operation.

Pay

$35.65–44.04/hour

Schedule

Monday–Friday + Sunday–Thursday every third week, 6:30 AM–3:30 PM. Overtime and weekends required based on business need.
