Line Technician

Responsibilities

• Process information.
• Obtain the appropriate line pouring schedule.
• Write information from the process card onto board for Iron Pourers.
• Record tap time and furnace number.
• Record molten temperature.
• Pour chemical test mold (keel block) for each grade of iron poured.
• Pour chemistry sample at each job change and every fifth ladle thereafter.
• Pour micro mold.
• Use saw to cut samples and grind to smooth when required.
• Use a stopwatch to time pour where a sample is being taken and record results.
• Use microscope for evaluation.
• Keep appropriate records.
• Follow proper "RED TAG" procedure if the modularity is out of specification.
• Keep work area clean and orderly.
• Must be able to use a calibrated immersion pyrometer.
• Operate a forklift as needed.
• May assist with closing and clamping molds.
• Inform Lab immediately of anything out of specification.
• May perform lab technician duties if needed.
• Record all data as necessary by completing paperwork and/or on a computer.
