Responsibilities
- Process information.
- Obtain the appropriate line pouring schedule.
- Write information from the process card onto board for Iron Pourers.
- Record tap time and furnace number.
- Record molten temperature.
- Pour chemical test mold (keel block) for each grade of iron poured.
- Pour chemistry sample at each job change and every fifth ladle thereafter.
- Pour micro mold.
- Use saw to cut samples and grind to smooth when required.
- Use a stopwatch to time pour where a sample is being taken and record results.
- Use microscope for evaluation.
- Keep appropriate records.
- Follow proper "RED TAG" procedure if the modularity is out of specification.
- Keep work area clean and orderly.
- Must be able to use a calibrated immersion pyrometer.
- Operate a forklift as needed.
- May assist with closing and clamping molds.
- Inform Lab immediately of anything out of specification.
- May perform lab technician duties if needed.
- Record all data as necessary by completing paperwork and/or on a computer.
