Line Shift Lead - Second Shift

About the role
Part of a high-performing team committed to World Class Manufacturing performance, the Line Shift Lead ensures the safety of our people always comes first while building a line culture of continuous improvement with a focus on zero operational defects and losses. The incumbent, in conjunction with other team functional leaders, has shift accountability for manufacturing line results, including safety, quality, reliability, production attainment, productivity, and costs. This role involves setting and leading shift daily direction, planned stops, and action plans to reduce losses. The Line Shift Lead sets high expectations, coaches the team, and ensures every team member understands the results expected. They own equipment and Daily Management Systems (DMS), receive and give coaching, and ensure robust shift-to-shift handover.
Responsibilities
- Ensure shift team complies with company Safety and Quality procedures.
- Coach, train, and develop the shift team.
- Work with the line functional team to determine root causes and solve line losses and performance outages.
- Own the Line shift Daily Direction Setting (DDS) process, including shift-to-shift handover.
- Ensure the team develops a robust plan for planned stops, with clearly defined roles and actions for each team member.
- Communicate DDS line, department, and plant direction to teams.
- Work with the Manufacturing Line Manager to plan and execute team training; coach team on owning their skill profiles.
- Resolve staffing issues or coordinate staffing across shifts; follow escalation processes for critical issues (e.g., safety, quality, breakdowns).
- Know and enforce plant standards around safety, break-time, quality, vacation scheduling, overtime management, and absenteeism.
- Provide constructive feedback and rewards; role model solid behaviors in key areas.
- Build technical skills and help set priorities to maximize process reliability/uptime and reduce losses.
- Ensure all shift documentation, SOP processes, and orders are completed per standard.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (or GED) required.
- 2+ years working as a production/machine operator required.
- Experience in high-speed food manufacturing and/or working knowledge of bottling operations preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and industrial technology; food manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to perform essential functions with little or no supervision.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 1:00 PM–9:30 PM (Overtime and weekends required based on business need).
