Line Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Cullman County Commission is hiring a Line Maintenance Technician for the Water Department. The position involves performing routine manual labor in the upkeep of County Waterlines, including general maintenance and installation of waterlines, meters, valves, hydrants, etc., and may include meter reading duties and other assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine manual labor in the upkeep of County Waterlines
• Carry out general maintenance and installation of waterlines, meters, valves, hydrants, etc.
• May be assigned meter reading duties
• Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of basic plumbing and pipefitting preferred
• Reading skills to comprehend instructions, manuals, maps, etc.
• Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that meets the County insurance carrier's standards for coverage
• Ability to perform considerable and strenuous physical exertion
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and interact with the public in an effective and pleasant manner
• Ability to work non-standard hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random, unannounced drug testing throughout employment in any Safety-Sensitive position
