About the Role

The Vanderbilt, Auberge Collection is a storied 33-room luxury resort in downtown Newport, originally built in 1908 as a mansion. As a Culinary Artisan, you will play a key role in curating an unforgettable dining experience, working across various kitchen positions to support our culinary operations. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is available.

Responsibilities

• Convert recipes and standard measurements to daily requirements.
• Assist other Cooks and the Executive Chef with a positive, self-motivating attitude.
• Review function sheets, restaurant requisitions, and special requests to prepare task lists.
• Practice good stock rotation, storage, and handling to minimize waste and spoilage.
• Maintain a clean working area and adhere to health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
• Work independently across kitchen stations, including pantry and banquet, as needed.
• Mentor and train team members, providing daily prep and technique guidance.
• Assist the chef with specialty dinners and functions with minimal supervision.
• Order supplies by initiating requisitions and submit Engineering work orders to maintain the facility.

Requirements

• Formal training or education in culinary arts, with a focus on pastry and baking techniques.
• One year of Cook II level experience or previous Cook I experience.
• Proficiency in baking methods, including dough preparation, pastry shaping, and decorating.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure consistency and high-quality presentation of pastries and desserts.
