About the role

Merrill Gardens at Anthem is seeking experienced cooks to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with seniors and a dedication to providing a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Aids in preparing all food items according to production amounts, recipes, and procedures.
• Ensures all food items are prepared promptly.
• Uses batch-cooking and cook-to-order methods as appropriate to maintain freshness.
• Prepares food products to meet the specific dietary needs of residents.
• Attends all scheduled dining services meetings and in-service trainings.
• Maintains kitchen sanitation and safety standards:
• Cleans and sanitizes work areas and equipment before and after use.
• Promotes proper food handling and storage practices as per company and state guidelines.
• Documents temperature charts and records as required by policy.
• Completes assigned cleaning tasks to ensure compliance with sanitary standards.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year’s experience in quality food preparation.
• Experience in scratch cooking in a high-volume, fine-dining setting.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Outlook, Word, etc.
• One year previous dining experience in food preparation.
• High school diploma or GED; college degree or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, and manual handling of materials up to 50 lbs.
• Regular bending, lifting, and reaching.
