Job Summary

The Line Cook is responsible for the daily production, quality, and consistency of all food items in the newly renovated kitchen at the Tides Inn, a luxury resort located in Irvington, Virginia.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this role.
  • Overall responsibility for the production, quality, and consistency of all food on your rotating stations in all venues including but not limited to Dining Room, IRD, Amenities, Fish Hawk and Banquets.
  • Remain diligent with keeping the freshest product on your station.
  • Absorb and assist the chefs in creating a daily waste log on your station.
  • Prepare food daily based on the volume we will be anticipating daily.
  • Take care of all items once you are done using them.
  • Ensure the use of standard recipes for all dishes to insure proper portion control, uniformity of taste and quality.
  • Minimize waste and maintain proper food utilization in ordinance with sous chefs.
  • Conduct tastings with the chef team for new menu items and ideas.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of your station as well as the surrounding areas.
  • Visit the Tides Inn Farm on a weekly basis to stay up to date with what is coming in the near future.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate.
  • 2 years of experience in culinary field at 4 to 5 Star hotel, club or restaurant.
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to work at all stations on the line.
  • Food handling certificate.
  • Ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Current, Valid Driver’s License is Required.
