Line Cook - FT and PT

About the role

The Independent Living Dining Team at Givens Estates, a nonprofit continuing care retirement community, is hiring for a full-time and part-time Line Cook.

Responsibilities

• Plan cooking schedule so that the finished product reaches the consumer at peak quality
• Prepare meat and main dishes, vegetables, soups, gravies, hot breakfast items and hot beverages
• Prepare all diet modifications necessary, and ensures resident’s receive foods appropriate to their needs / diet orders
• Asemble all ingredients, complete all pre-preparation (trimming, icing, washing, portioning, adjusting temperature controls) before advancing to final preparation (mixing, blending, cooking, etc)
• Apportion servings in accordance with yield specified on standardized recipes and in accordance with modified diet extension spreadsheets
• Perform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned on an as-needed basis by an authorized supervisor

Requirements

• Prefer three (3) months of supervised training and six months experience in quantity food service
• Must be, as a minimum, thoroughly familiar with foods and preparation methods
• Must know proper methods and cooking temperatures for best utilization in yield of meats and other foods; as well as how to time cooking of vegetables so that their nutritional quality, flavor and appearance are preserved
• Must have knowledge in and an appreciation for principles and requirement of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must have a valid driver’s license

Pay

$20.50 - $21.50 per hour based on experience, plus our comprehensive benefits package!

Schedule

• Current Schedule For The FT Roles Is Wednesday 9:30AM to 5PM, Thursday - Saturday 12PM to 9PM, and Sunday 8AM to 4PM
• The Current Schedule For The PT Role Is Varied days between Monday and Saturday, 10:00AM to 6:30PM
