About the role
Decatur County REMC is seeking a line apprentice in Greensburg, Indiana. Benefits include a pension. Pay increases incrementally throughout the apprenticeship program.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the construction, maintenance, operation, and inspection of electrical distribution systems.
- Perform assigned duties safely and efficiently in accordance with established policies, procedures, and industry standards.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Perform physically demanding work, including heavy lifting and climbing.
Minimum Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience in the electric utility industry or successful completion of a recognized power line school.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
Apprenticeship Requirements
- The successful candidate must be willing to enroll in and successfully complete an approved four-year power line apprenticeship program that includes both classroom instruction and structured on-the-job training.
- Candidates must also be willing to train and become a certified line climber.
Additional Requirements
- This is a full-time bargaining unit position with on-call responsibilities, including evenings, weekends, and emergency response as needed.
- Employees must reside within a 20-mile radius of the reporting office.
- Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
