Line Apprentice

About the role

Decatur County REMC is seeking a line apprentice in Greensburg, Indiana. Benefits include a pension. Pay increases incrementally throughout the apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Aid in the construction, maintenance, operation, and inspection of electrical distribution systems.
• Perform assigned duties safely and efficiently in accordance with established policies, procedures, and industry standards.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Perform physically demanding work, including heavy lifting and climbing.

Minimum Qualifications

• One (1) year of experience in the electric utility industry or successful completion of a recognized power line school.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.

Apprenticeship Requirements

• The successful candidate must be willing to enroll in and successfully complete an approved four-year power line apprenticeship program that includes both classroom instruction and structured on-the-job training.
• Candidates must also be willing to train and become a certified line climber.

Additional Requirements

• This is a full-time bargaining unit position with on-call responsibilities, including evenings, weekends, and emergency response as needed.
• Employees must reside within a 20-mile radius of the reporting office.
• Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
