Key Responsibilities
- Coil Preparation & Assembly Support: Collect and organize coil parts (u-bends, stubs, headers, etc.) based on production needs. Install turbulators and put attachment flanges on fin coils. Read and interpret priority schedules and coil tracking to prioritize tasks.
- Quality Control & Maintenance: Repair fin damage and gaps by combing with a fin comb. Conduct quality checks on all completed work to ensure accuracy and precision. Report and advise on equipment maintenance if tools are not functioning properly.
- Material Handling & Production Support: Pick up and move coils between departments as required. Assist in production tasks, including cutting, drilling, grinding, and other metal fabrication tasks. Read and understand bills of material to ensure correct parts are used.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following all procedures, rules, and regulations. Comply with government regulations, company policies, and procedures. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all safety protocols.
- Team Collaboration & Additional Responsibilities: Collaborate with team members within the department and across departments to support production goals. Contribute to the overall team effort by assisting others as needed to meet production targets. Complete tasks as directed by the supervisor and report accurately in the time and attendance system for accurate payroll processing.
- Additional Duties: Work independently, demonstrating self-motivation, and complete job assignments on time. Clean work area as required to maintain an organized environment. Attend work as scheduled, arriving on time and working overtime as necessary.
Desired Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or assembly role is beneficial.
- Ability to read and comprehend priority schedules, bills of material, and coil tracking information.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Competence in using measuring tools, including reading a tape measure down to 1/16 of an inch.
- Basic metalworking and fabrication skills, with knowledge of soldering using a gas torch.
Supervision & Reporting
This position reports to the Final Assembly Supervisor and works closely with other production team members to ensure efficient and accurate coil preparation and assembly. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to meet production deadlines and quality standards.
Work Environment
Work is conducted primarily in an industrial manufacturing setting, involving exposure to moving mechanical parts and various tools. Physical tasks, including lifting, standing, and handling materials, are required. The Coil Preparation must comply with all safety guidelines and wear the necessary PPE.
