Limited-Term Assistant Professor
About the role
The Department of Mathematics at the University of Georgia seeks highly-qualified candidates to fill Limited Term Assistant Professor positions beginning in August 2026. Limited Term Assistant Professor positions are similar to postdoctoral positions in that they are non-tenure-track and involve both teaching and research.
Responsibilities
- Teaching duties are the equivalent of 3 four-hour semester long courses or 4 three-hour semester long courses per year, and will be aligned with the department’s small class initiative at the Precalculus and Calculus I and II levels, where class size is capped at 20-23 students.
- Participation in the research life of the Department, including the pursuit of an original research program.
Requirements
A Ph.D., or equivalent foreign degree, in Mathematics or a related field is required.
Qualifications
Limited-term faculty may be renewed annually for a period of two (2) years. Any request for reappointment of limited term faculty beyond the second year requires pre-approval by the Provost.
Skills
Applicants should show promise of moving toward excellence in conducting significant research in mathematics or a related area as well as moving toward the potential for high quality teaching in university mathematics classes.
