LIM Systems Specialist
About the role
The LIMS System Specialist will assist in the management of patient records and related data applicable to public health laboratory testing performed at the environmental and clinical laboratories. The primary responsibilities include management of LIMS, electronic forms, and the environmental laboratories websites. Additionally, the LIMS System Specialist will help identify and resolve technical problems, develop new test panels, and optimize current LIMS functions.

- Vendor and Customer Coordination and Relations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in MIS or Computer Science, or Bachelor's degree in life sciences with training and experience in Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience managing and coordinating application development efforts.
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience with troubleshooting and resolving application performance issues for users.
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in communication, marketing, public relations or related field.
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in data architecture, modeling, design, data management, data security and system integration.
- Skills to design systems, data products and / or data production processes while focusing on data curation, data exchange, data security, data integrity and information environments.
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows environment including MS Office Software.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills with an ability to work concurrently on several projects/issues.
- Ability to provide support for Mac OS and Apple devices.
- Ability to provide general technical support of various software’s used on campus and remote users.
- Ability to troubleshoot network equipment and servers.
- Ability to clearly document procedures and create training materials related to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- In depth knowledge of data management systems, practices and standards.
- Knowledge to represent complex technical information in abstract models.
- Knowledge to maintain and optimize information systems and migrate data and information systems as needed.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills with an ability to work concurrently on several projects/issues.
- Knowledge of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) or software development processes for maintaining information technology systems, and the models and methodologies used to develop these systems.
- Demonstrated successful interpersonal, oral and written communications skills to effectively interact with diverse groups, colleagues, public officials, and supervisors.
- Knowledge and experience with form changes, system configurations, application upgrades, and data analysis.
- Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, independence, and flexibility in supporting customers and management as a team member.
- Strong ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner across the organization and to all levels of the organization.
- Ability to be resourceful and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with data quality and governance issues and requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds.
Skills
- Skills to assist with installing, configuring, and imaging new computer hardware and troubleshooting software.
- Skills to prepare data models unassisted.
- Familiarity with logical data design and data mapping or data conversion.
- Skills to install and configure state issued mobile devices as well as personal devices.
