About the role
GovCIO is hiring a Solutions/Systems Engineer to design, implement, and maintain audiovisual systems supporting Special Operations. This is an onsite position located in Fayetteville, NC.
Responsibilities
- Provides hands-on technical and project management support aligned with contract requirements and mission objectives.
- Design, Implementation, and Maintenance of AV Systems
- Designs, implements, and maintains advanced AV systems tailored to client and mission requirements, including hardware selection, software configuration, and integration with architectural elements.
- Ensures all designs comply with AVIXA CTS standards and industry best practices for performance, scalability, and security.
- Conducts site surveys to assess environmental factors, infrastructure readiness, and user needs.
- Guides the Technical Writer and Computer-Aided Design Technician in producing comprehensive technical documentation (wiring diagrams, equipment specs, installation guides, project timelines).
- Operational Support and Troubleshooting
- Manages the Installation Team and provides oversight in troubleshooting AV equipment (projectors, displays, microphones, speakers, amplifiers, video conferencing systems, control interfaces).
- Ensures reliable system operation for local and remote users through system testing, commissioning, and calibration.
- Delivers hands-on end-user training, develops user manuals, and provides ongoing technical support.
- Collaboration and Integration
- Collaborates with clients, vendors, architects, IT professionals, and construction teams to coordinate project milestones and address technical challenges.
- Facilitates communication between engineering and other departments to ensure efficient workflow and timely project delivery.
- Project Management and Documentation
- Develops comprehensive project plans, defining objectives, deliverables, timelines, and milestones.
- Allocates and manages project resources (personnel, equipment, budget) to ensure efficiency and adherence to financial constraints.
- Tracks and analyzes project progress using performance metrics and implements corrective actions as needed.
- Establishes quality assurance processes to ensure deliverables meet or exceed standards and client expectations.
- Maintains accurate records of service, repairs, upgrades, and installations; implements preventative maintenance schedules.
- Upholds compliance with safety regulations, industry codes, and environmental standards.
- Continuous Improvement and Professional Development
- Stays current with emerging technologies, AV industry trends, and evolving CTS certification guidelines.
- Participates in professional development, attends industry conferences, and evaluates new products.
- Direct Contract Support Justification
- Supports system engineering, integration, installation, testing, logistics, technical field assistance, and sustainment as required by contract deliverables.
- Maintains joint management of the AV Integrated Logistics Support Plan (ILSP) for AV systems (VIDS, expeditionary AV, conference rooms) supporting GCTC sites.
- Assists in proposal generation, technical documentation, and risk mitigation to ensure compliance with government and industry standards.
- Ensures the engineering team provides surge support and rapid response installation/maintenance as mission requirements dictate.
- Leadership and Team Development
- Oversees daily operations of the engineering department, ensuring efficient workflow and timely project delivery.
- Mentors and supports engineering staff, promoting professional development and team engagement.
- Reports on operational performance to senior leadership and recommends improvements.
Requirements
- High School diploma with 6–9 years of relevant experience (or commensurate experience).
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) or equivalent.

- PMI-PMP certification.
- Budgeting and cost-control competency.
- BICSI or Optical Fiber certification.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification (copy required with application).
- CompTIA Security+ Certification (copy required with application).
- Any Audio-Visual Industry recognized certifications.
- Demonstrated knowledge in Cisco TelePresence Management Suite.
- Experience in Multi-media Video Walls.
- Experience working in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
- Experience supporting Special Operations.
Pay
Posted salary range: USD $100,000.00 – USD $115,000.00 per year.
