Position Overview

Responsibilities
- Respond to medical emergencies
- Take vital signs and record on prescribed Napa County patient treatment record
- Assist Fire Department personnel with patient extrication and treatment
- Use basic first aid skills to stop bleeding, immobilize fractures, and splint patient to minimize additional damage
- Perform CPR and administer oxygen
- Obtain patient health history and share information with other agency responders
- Aid in preparing records and reports
Requirements
- Currently employed as a Napa County Volunteer Firefighter
- Current California Driver's License and ability to drive a Napa County Emergency Vehicle code 3
- Required First Responder medical training or EMT or higher medical training

Physical Standards
Certain designated County positions require a candidate to pass a physical examination prior to appointment. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of this examination.
Fingerprinting
All employees hired into allocated positions or extra help positions will be fingerprinted.
Selection Process
For positions in the Department of Corrections and the Probation Department, the selection process includes an oral board interview, psychological assessment, background investigation, and a pre-employment physical exam.
