Responsibilities

  • Inspect and make repairs on all aspects of automotive vehicles and equipment.
  • Do general and major work on vehicles, buses, light and heavy trucks, graders, and other automotive diesel and mechanical equipment.
  • Inspect, adjust and replace necessary units and related parts.
  • Tune motors using standard testing equipment.
  • Repair and overhaul brakes, transmissions, differentials, front and rear axle assemblies; repair and install hydraulic controls.
  • Perform different phases of tire work and minor body repairs.
  • Perform emergency road repairs and test vehicles and equipment to ensure safe operating conditions.
  • Prepares shop work orders on equipment repair, and orders parts as needed to maintain stock.
  • Makes service calls as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent or ten (10) years Mechanic experience will be considered.
  • Diesel Technology degree preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years Mechanic experience repairing and troubleshooting Caterpillar mining equipment.
  • Experience must include working with Ford & Dodge trucks 2005-present.
  • Previous experience working on Ford light vehicles.
  • Previous remote rotational work experience as a Mechanic required.
  • Working knowledge of Red Dog facilities preferred.
  • Drivers License and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy.

  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending over, or crawling.
  • Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Requires frequent talking and hearing.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
