About the role

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking a Full-Time Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic to support the Department of the Air Force (DAF) at Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) - 75th Air Base Wing, on Hill AFB in Layton, UT. This position offers a rewarding career with benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, modify and maintain a variety of types of heavy mobile equipment, some of which are very complex and comprised of interrelated systems.
  • Work on unusual and complex problems related to the maintenance and repair of heavy mobile equipment.
  • Maintain and repair a variety of vehicles in support of assigned base and ALC missions.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Obtain & Maintain a Security Clearance
  • Pass a Pre-Employment Physical
  • Must be able to pass a drug test

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of a variety of types of heavy mobile equipment and automotive vehicles
  • Safety practices and procedures and environmental directives pertaining to handling hazardous materials
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in a variety of types of heavy mobile equipment and automotive vehicles
  • Use of a variety of hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and items of test equipment
  • Interpret and apply manufacturers' repair manuals, technical specifications, schematics, safety manuals, and similar guides
  • Effective communication, training, and record-keeping skills
