About the role
The Lift Station Technician is responsible for maintaining distribution/collection systems with a strong focus on lift stations; identifying equipment problems; and performing maintenance of system facilities. This position will travel between service areas near Clearwater, FL. The schedule is Monday through Friday. After-hour and weekend on-call support may be required. Must be available to work shift work; weekend scheduling may be required.
Responsibilities
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date records.
- Documents customer interaction and Field Activities using Company software.
- Acts as liaison between the customers and customer service personnel for problem/complaint resolution.
- Provides on-site customer communication.
- Aids in maintaining mechanical, electrical and piping systems for area lift station facilities, collection and distribution systems.
- Constant, independent travel daily between worksites on Company time.
- Maintains On-Call in rotation as scheduled; responds to emergency situations as required.
- May assist with repairs of water/wastewater treatment plant equipment, lift stations and infrastructure.
- Indicates irregularities on forms for necessary action by department personnel and vendors.
- Aids in maintaining plant compliance with Federal, state and local regulatory requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Distribution and/or Collections certification as required by statute or regulation.
- May be required to obtain first-level operating license within one year of employment.
- A minimum of one year previous mechanical or maintenance experience.
- General knowledge of care and operation of a variety of tools and equipment, and safe work practices is helpful.
Qualifications
- HS diploma or GED.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
Skills
- Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, regulatory agencies and their personnel.
- Ability to implement recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law.
- Ability to keep accurate records and prepare and submit accurate reports.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to provide for safe working conditions for fellow workers.

- Demonstrated ability to motivate others in the pursuit of Company goals.
- Knowledge of cell phone, laptop, tablet, Trimble unit, water distribution equipment and machinery including pumps, valve exerciser, pipe locator and other maintenance equipment; operate a Company-issued motor vehicle.
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical demands, including lifting (75 lbs.), walking (10+ miles daily), climbing and mechanical repair.
