Lifestyle Show Host
About the role
Nexstar Media Inc. and its operations in Portland, Oregon – including KOIN-TV and KRCW-TV / Portland’s CW, and KOIN+ is looking for a full-time host for a daily half-hour lifestyle show airing on KOIN-TV.
Responsibilities
- Produce and host the daily program, conducting in-studio interviews segments, and participating in on-location shoots as scheduled.
- Generate and brainstorm local content ideas with sales managers and content team.
- Write, shoot, and edit show segments.
- Interview show guests/clients both in-studio and on-location.
- Collect information, video or photos at remote locations for post-production.
- Greet and assist guests during show preparations.
- Research show topics and develop questions for guests.
- Aid in booking guests, interviews, and local segments.
- Aid in sales presentations including meetings with clients.
- Attend events – either station-sponsored or others – to promote the show.
- Maintain social media accounts and assist with online content.
- Produce and post digital content for digital platforms and CTV streaming channel.
- Provide daily on-camera contributions to the show.
- Interview show guests/clients both in studio and on location.
- Collect information, video or photos at remote locations for post-production.
- Greet and assist guests during show preparations.
- Research show topics and develop questions for guests in coordination with the Executive Producer.
- Attend daily show meetings.
- Aid in sales on presentations including meetings with clients.
- Participate in events – either station-sponsored or others – to promote the show.
- Maintain a show social media account and assist with all online content as directed by the Executive Producer.
Requirements & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in film, photography, television, news or related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience as a host or on-air personality.
- Ability to write, shoot, and edit packages.
- Ability to prioritize and address multiple projects with varying production timelines.
- Energetic, positive, and great in a team environment.
- Highly-motivated self-starter who works well alone and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Training/Equipment
- Newsroom computer systems.
- Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment.
Work Environment/Mental/Physical Requirements
- High stress environment with deadline pressures and the demands of breaking news, which can happen at any time.
- Position will require day-to-day multi-tasking, as well as managing multiple projects simultaneously with frequent change in direction and priority.
- Travel may be required.
- A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
