About the role

The City of Huntsville’s Parks & Recreation department is seeking qualified applicants to fill Lifeguard positions. This specialized recreation work involves monitoring swimming activities and enforcing water safety rules and regulations at a public pool. Responsibilities include observing swimmers, leading swimming activities, and instructing patrons.

Responsibilities

• Monitor swimming activities and enforce water safety rules and regulations
• Lead swimming activities as needed
• Instruct patrons on proper swimming techniques and water safety
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance duties

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills
• Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Skills

• Water safety knowledge
• First aid and CPR certification
• AED usage
