Qualifications

  • 16 years of age and in good health
  • Lifeguard Training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certification
  • Experience teaching elementary swimming instruction desired
  • A fitness evaluation, designed to assure competence in life saving skills, will be required prior to hiring (see personnel policies)
  • Basic Computer Skills desired

Position Responsibility

To ensure the safety of the patrons in the pool and elsewhere in the facility.

Performance Duties

  • Maintain lifeguard station and observe assigned area until properly relieved
  • Assist anyone in distress and rescue anyone in a near-drowning situation
  • Administer emergency first aid and maintain life support as needed by the victim of an accident
  • Summon support personnel when needed
  • Observe and enforce all rules and regulations
  • Educate the patrons of the need for rules and regulations
  • Complete all required records and reports
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance duties as assigned by the Pool Manager or the Head Guard
  • Attend staff and/or in-service meetings as assigned by the Pool Manager and/or the Head Guard

Evaluation

Performance of the job will be evaluated in writing by the Pool Manager and/or the Head Guard with input from the appropriate supervisor.

Lack of English language proficiency will not be a barrier to admission and participation in career and technical education programs.
