About the role
The Aquatics Specialist 2-Lifeguard position at The Salvation Army is responsible for maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the aquatic facility. This role includes providing life-guarding services, responding to emergencies, performing housekeeping duties, and optional water safety instructor duties.
Responsibilities
- Provide life-guarding services.
- Respond to emergency situations and administer CPR/First Aid if necessary.
- Prepare and submit accident/incident reports.
- Participate in In-Service training, orientations, and other staff meetings as requested.
- Perform general housekeeping duties in and around the natatorium, such as hosing, vacuuming, picking up litter, etc.
- Complete applicable reports and make records.
- If approved, teach swim lessons to preschool and school age children, levels 1-6.
Requirements
- Read, write, and speak English to express ideas and communicate effectively.
- Safe aquatics practices.
- Use of aquatic equipment and cleaning supplies.
- Multi-task and follow instructions to complete tasks in a safe and effective manner.
- Interact with individuals using generally accepted business behaviors and standards.
- Use interpersonal skills to deal effectively with others in favorable and unfavorable situations.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
Qualifications
- Some experience in Customer Service and Aquatics Cleanliness.
- Certification in Lifeguard Training required, from American Red Cross or Ellis & Associates.
- Swim lesson instruction and water exercise instruction are strongly preferred.
- Maintain and keep certifications current.
Skills
- Use of aquatic equipment and cleaning supplies.
- Safe aquatics practices.

Hourly Wage: $17.98
