About the role

The Life Support Educator at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) leads all aspects of American Heart Association (AHA) courses, including ACLS, BLS, PALS, and PEARS. This role involves teaching AHA courses as a Lead Instructor, monitoring instructors, facilitating course setup and breakdown, enrolling students, and providing on-site education.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Lead Instructor for AHA courses
  • Teach American Heart Association courses as Lead Instructor
  • Monitor ACLS, BLS, PALS, PEARS instructors (Training Center Faculty)
  • Facilitate set-up/break down of course equipment
  • Complete/submit rosters
  • Recruit instructors
  • Utilize online resources for AHA training and CHOP systems
  • Enrollware: Track and enroll students/instructors
  • CHOP myCareer: For attending students for regulatory requirement tracking
  • @CHOP community site: AHA Instructor Network site
  • AHA Training Center Manager site
  • Maintain proficiency in simulation technology and education strategies for AHA curriculum
  • Evaluate new equipment and identify opportunities for technology improvement and integration into healthcare education
  • Participate in technical training as necessary
  • Provide education on-site at all CHOP campuses/locations and for external clients at their location of choice
  • Participate in educational outreach to the general public and Emergency Medical Services community

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • At least three (3) years working experience in a healthcare occupation
  • At least five (5) years in a healthcare occupation that requires the incumbent to maintain and utilize ACLS and PALS certifications
  • Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire
  • Respiratory Therapist (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire
  • Osteopathic Respiratory Therapist (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire
  • Paramedic - Pennsylvania EMS Registry - upon hire
  • American Heart Association Instructor - ACLS/BLS/PALS - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross)

Qualifications

  • Education Qualifications: High School Diploma / GED Required, Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • Experience Qualifications: At least three (3) years working experience in a healthcare occupation, at least five (5) years in a healthcare occupation that requires the incumbent to maintain and utilize ACLS and PALS certifications

Skills and Abilities

  • Communication/technical teaching skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic 24/7 healthcare environment; able to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as required

SALARY RANGE: $36.60 - $46.65 Hourly

Schedule
