About the role

New Start II provides residential treatment and recovery support services for individuals working to overcome substance use challenges and rebuild their lives. Our team creates a safe, structured, and supportive environment where individuals can develop life skills, strengthen recovery, and achieve greater independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supportive care to individuals in a residential treatment setting.
• Absorb and teach healthy living skills, meal planning, food preparation, and budgeting.
• Monitor household safety and provide support during crisis situations when needed.
• Facilitate and participate in educational groups, community meetings, recovery meetings, and recreational activities.
• Support residents in meeting treatment goals and maintaining program accountability.
• Collaborate with nursing staff regarding health, medication, and appointment-related needs.
• Conduct program rounds, environmental safety checks, and fire drills.
• Complete documentation including shift notes, logs, intake paperwork, and incident-related reports.
• Escort residents to appointments, shopping trips, and community activities as appropriate.
• Promote a safe, respectful, and recovery-oriented environment for all participants.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver's License
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and web-based email systems
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Preferred

• Two (2) years of experience in substance abuse treatment, recovery support, or withdrawal management services
• Personal recovery experience or relevant lived experience
• Experience working in behavioral health or residential treatment settings

Physical Requirements

• Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently
• Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, climb, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift
• Ability to safely escort residents into the community and support daily program activities
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Schedule

Full-Time
3:00 PM - 11:00 PM Shift
Awake shift position
Weekend and holiday availability may be required based on program needs
