Life Sciences Underwriter - Products and Excess

Build strong relationships with brokers to ensure meeting or exceeding financial goals including growth, profit, retention, and new business.
Account solicitation, risk selection and analysis including the corresponding documentation, pricing and marketing of Berkley Life Sciences products and services for new and existing customers.
Identify opportunities for account rounding.
Provide technical support to producers and insureds.
Stay current with all compliance, procedural and workflow changes.
Work collaboratively and effectively with underwriting associates, operations, legal, home office underwriting and claims.
Engage in innovation initiatives, product launches, marketing campaigns and short-term projects as appropriate to contribute positively towards success of the overall team and company.

Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Calm under pressure with excellent organizational skills, integrity, and great follow-through on tasks.
Strong sense of accountability, fun and adventure.
Proven track record of building and maintaining strong business relationships with insureds, agents & brokers.
Strong customer service bias, super responsive, and known for saying no and preserving relationships.
Natural curiosity and love for learning how things work, always looking for innovative improvements.
An analytical mind, diving into the details of an account to craft pricing and coverage that meet underwriting guidelines, profitability models and customer needs.
A minimum of 8 years of underwriting experience, with progressively increasing responsibilities. Claims made experience a plus. Life Science Products Liability experience.
Occasional travel requirements.
Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products.

Base Salary Range: 120k-$180k
Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus
