Life Sciences Underwriter

Responsibilities

• Support new business production and servicing of Emerging Account business for an assigned group of producers
• Foster strong producer partnerships and support overall growth
• Build strong relationships with brokers through service excellence
• Ensure meeting or exceeding financial goals including growth, profit, retention, and new business
• Account solicitation, risk selection and analysis including the corresponding documentation, pricing and marketing of Berkley Life Sciences products and services
• Contribute to team’s business development results for assigned producers
• Identify opportunities for account rounding
• Provide technical support to producers and insureds
• Stay current with all compliance, procedural and workflow changes
• Demonstrate continuous learning, including participation in underwriting training and life sciences industry education
• Work collaboratively and effectively with underwriting teammates, operations, legal, home office underwriting and claims

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Calm under pressure with excellent organizational skills, integrity, and great follow-through on tasks
• Strong sense of accountability, fun and adventure
• Proven track record of building and maintaining strong business relationships with insureds, agents & brokers
• Natural curiosity and analytical mind
• Minimum of 2 years underwriting or associate underwriting experience in products liability, property, workers compensation, automobile and umbrella Claims made experience a plus
• Life Sciences Products Liability experience a plus
• Travel opportunities, though primarily you will build relationships with your assigned producers through service excellence and reliability
