Responsibilities
- Support new business production and servicing of Emerging Account business for an assigned group of producers.
- Foster strong producer partnerships and support overall growth.
- Build strong relationships with brokers through service excellence to ensure meeting or exceeding financial goals including growth, profit, retention, and new business.
- Account solicitation, risk selection and analysis including the corresponding documentation, pricing and marketing of Berkley Life Sciences products and services for new and existing customers.
- Key contributor to team’s business development results for assigned producers.
- Identify opportunities for account rounding.
- Provide technical support to producers and insureds.
- Stay current with all compliance, procedural and workflow changes.
- Demonstrate continuous learning, including participation in underwriting training and life sciences industry education.
- Work collaboratively and effectively with underwriting teammates, operations, legal, home office underwriting and claims.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Calm under pressure with excellent organizational skills, integrity, and great follow-through on tasks.
- Comfortable challenging norms while working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Strong sense of accountability, fun and adventure.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining strong business relationships with insureds, agents & brokers.
- Customer service bias, known for super responsiveness, and able to say no and preserve relationships.
- Natural curiosity, loves learning how things work, and always looking for innovative improvements.
- An analytical mind, loves diving into the details of an account to craft pricing and coverage that meet underwriting guidelines, profitability models and customer needs.
- Minimum of 2 years underwriting or associate underwriting experience in products liability, property, workers compensation, automobile and umbrella Claims made experience a plus.
- Life Sciences Products Liability experience a plus.
- Travel opportunities, though primarily build relationships with assigned producers through service excellence and reliability.
