About the role
The Life Safety Systems Specialist is responsible for providing advanced expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance on facility systems in a large industrial environment, including clean rooms. The role requires strong organizational and time management skills, the ability to identify and correct safety-related issues, and the capability to conduct building testing and inspections.
Responsibilities
- Identify and correct safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential failures.
- General maintenance of equipment, including conducting building testing and inspections.
- Assess fire suppression systems, fire extinguisher training, and comply with NFPA 10, 17A, 96, and 25 requirements.
- Maintain regulator records and perform routine inspections of fire protection systems.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment, grounds, and stations as needed.
- Safely perform functions including following safety guidelines, using PPE, and adhering to job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Understand and enforce company policies and safety regulations.
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and perform required preventative maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, alignments, etc.
- Perform preventive maintenance on process/production equipment as scheduled in CMMS.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.
- Safely operate fork-lifts, hoists, and cranes, utilizing safe rigging and lifting techniques.
- Respond to and provide service and feedback to customers on all work orders, ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
- Operate various measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to provide energy efficiency solutions.
- Operate a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
- Maintain a strict schedule to be successful in the assignment while demonstrating flexibility in day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Typically requires 3-5 years of job-related experience or equivalent.
- Ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
- May require additional licensing per state regulation.
Physical Requirements
- Repetitive wrist movement.
- Walking extensively throughout facilities during a workday.
- Climbing extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs as needed during a workday.
- Bending/stooping, squatting, kneeling, reaching/stretching, and moving in a 90-degree fashion during workday.
- Differentiating colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
- Reading and understanding information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
- Using a variety of office equipment and operating a computer keyboard to access databases, send/receive messages, and prepare documents.
- Attending meetings throughout the site and potentially traveling to other Amentum, customer, and/or vendor locations, as well as some air travel to more distant locations.
- Communicating with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings, and presentations.
- Using a variety of measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to provide energy efficiency solutions.
- Maintaining a strict schedule to be successful in the assignment while demonstrating flexibility in day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
Special Requirements
- Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
- Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
