Position Summary
The Life Safety Specialist ensures compliance with NFPA 101 Life Safety Code (and applicable referenced standards), Joint Commission, CMS, NYS and local regulations to protect patients, staff, and visitors.
Key responsibilities
- Conducting fire safety inspections
- Managing fire alarm/sprinkler systems
- Oversight of Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM)
- Conducting drills
- Maintaining regulatory survey readiness
Additional Duties/Responsibilities
- Researches and maintains knowledge base current with life safety standards and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations applicable to Highland Hospital.
- Attends departmental staff meetings, in-services, and training programs.
- Other duties as required.
Salary Range
Salary Range $25.00 - $30.00 an hour

Job Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalency. Associates degree in Fire Protection Technology, Occupational Safety & Health, Fire & Life Safety, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Three (3) years of work experience in safety, building or facility maintenance. Healthcare experience preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications Required: New York State driver’s license.
