Life Insurance - IT Analyst III
About the role
The Life Insurance IT Analyst III at Pekin Insurance partners with Product Managers, Product Owners, business units, and technical teams to identify business problems and translate requirements into user stories, features, and testable outcomes. The role documents customer journeys and complex business process flows, focusing on Life insurance products and forms. The analyst acts as the voice of the business, supports backlog prioritization, clarifies requirements, defines and executes test cases, participates in planning and release activities, and helps ensure product quality and alignment with business strategy.
Responsibilities
- Works with Product Managers, Product Owners, and business units to identify and capture business problems and non-functional requirements
- Understands the customer journey and translates into user stories
- Absorbs and applies complex business and technical information
- Identifies stakeholder beliefs to inform requirements prioritization and shares with Product Owner
- Ensures accurate translation of business requirements into functionality and features
- Guides team decision making and provides business partners with an accurate view of challenges to end-user buy-in under the guidance of Product Managers and Owners
- Aligns technology solutions with business strategies comprised of enterprise-wide or the most complex business processes
- Understands and applies information and data analysis requirements
- Defines and supports execution of test cases
- Acts as the voice of the business to the technical product team
- Edits engineers on a product's context and drives/enforces product quality and intended use
- Prototypes and co-designs for innovative solutions
- Identifies opportunities for business-led delivery
- Helps employees to make better use of technology and information when necessary
- Provides consultative support on business-led technology products and projects
- Guides solution options and Product Manager decision making to minimize the amount of product investment divergence from target architecture
- Advanced ITSM process creation, management, and improvement
- Advanced stakeholder communication and influence across business and technical teams
- Advanced business and process analysis, including identifying risks, dependencies, gaps, and solutions
- Participates in planning and release events as required
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other related fields or 5-8 years equivalent work experience
- Typically requires 5-8 years of experience in the desired field or may have advanced level technical or business work experience
- Preferred experience in an Agile environment
- Life Insurance knowledge is highly preferred, especially life insurance forms and knowledge of business process flows
Qualifications
- Certifications not required
- FLMI, relevant life insurance industry certifications, or applicable IT/technical certifications are a plus
- In-depth knowledge of: Requirements elicitation and analysis, Business process mapping; user stories/features; test-case definition and execution, Stakeholder communication/influence, Technical/process writing; ability to absorb complex business and technical information
- In-depth skills in: Analytical and conceptual thinking, Information gathering, planning, and organizing methods and principles, The organization’s goals and objectives, Planning, organizational, and time management, Written and verbal communication including technical writing skills
- In-depth ability to: Elicit requirements and performing testing, Translate customer journeys into user stories, Analyze data to draw business-relevant conclusions, In data visualization techniques and tools, Influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions, Conduct research on a wide range of computing issues as required, Absorb and retain information quickly, specifically complex technical information, Lead technical teams producing complex solutions, Build controls and manage risk to foster a stable business production environment, Apply original thinking to produce new ideas and innovate

Pay & Benefits
Pay Range: $82,000.00 – $111,000.00 per year
