About the Role
The Recreation Assistant assists in the planning, organizing, and facilitation of recreation involvement for patients and residents.
Responsibilities
- Promotes recreation involvement based on the needs, preferences, and interests of the patient/resident.
- Provides input into the design of recreation services and assists in the planning of recreation opportunities.
- Demonstrates the ability to plan and organize daily tasks and schedule.
- Encourages social interaction through recreation opportunities.
- Facilitates recreation programs based on patient/resident interests, preferences, and life history.
- Demonstrates willingness and ability to facilitate group and individual activities in all component areas (e.g., physical, cognitive, social, spiritual, creative, wellness, sensory, community, and service).
- Demonstrates the ability to motivate and engage residents during activities.
- Facilitates recreation activities for individuals of all cognitive and physical abilities.
- Facilitates scheduled activities, as assigned, in a timely manner.
- Determines and provides resources and supplies to support patients/residents' involvement in independent pursuits.
- Facilitates scheduled individual interventions for identified patients/residents based on needs, interests, and preferences.
- Accurately completes assigned documentation per policy.
- Participates in the formulation and follow-through of the patient/resident care plan.
- Demonstrates competency in completing computerized documentation.
- Attends and participates in continuing education/in-service opportunities.
- Assists in the organization, maintenance, and storage of the recreation department supplies.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills when interacting with other staff, patients/residents, families, and visitors.
- Assists in transporting patients/residents to and from recreation programs or appointments.
- Integrates the Recover-Care Core Values into everyday behavior.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Requirements
- Active CNA Certificate.
- Clean driving record and active driver’s license.
Compliance
- Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, policies, and procedures, including those within the Compliance and Ethics Program, Standard/Code of Conduct, Federal False Claims Act, and HIPAA.
- Participates in required orientation and training programs.
- Promptly reports concerns and suspected incidents of non-compliance to supervisor, Compliance Liaison, or to the Compliance Officer via the Integrity Hotline.
- Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations.
- Participates, as requested, in quality assurance and process improvement activities.
